preaching to a catholic priest

Sunday 3rd of February-

Meeting at 9. Will this ever work for Hanna? Still very quiet. Brothers still wondering if something is wrong. We miss having a public talk, but we’re grateful for the study, our brothers and sisters answers in the language they prefer, it’s English, Afrikaans and Oshiwambo, so sometimes we just guess what has not been saidJ We enjoy it! And this time we’ve brought things for field service afterwards!
I get to work with Marian and Morno-Litho. Morno-Litho discovers that Marian actually talks (she’s usually more of a listener)
Trine gets to work with (or tag along with) Wilhelmina, Marians mum. She has studies in oshiwambo. Don’t get so much out of what they are saying, but both of her studies likes what they learn and comes regularly to the meetings, even if they only have studied until chapter 3 in the yellow book. Foibe lives in area 2, 1 bed and tin walls and roof, no water, sharing toilet with the rest of her neighbors. But smiling as the sun!
Trineohanna has decided to get started with their town-territory. We have been assigned a town-territory as our personal territory. It’s the territory we’re we live, practical, very nearby… Figured Sunday afternoon is a good time. Anthony, Marian and Massimo join us. This territory is very different from the townships and locations, most white people behind big walls, intercoms and with digs in the yard. Yeih. This truly felt like our Everest! We reason with ourselves: It’s a good thing we got this, since we’re only here for a short while it’s not so good if we start a lot of studies that no-one can take care of when we leave. Even if most people here don’t want to listen they also need a chance to get to hear the good news. Let’s not be prejudiced, keep an open mind Acts 10:34! Good, we’re satisfied.
First call for Hanna and Massimo:
It’s the new catholic priest. He’s from India, invites us in for a few minutes. It turns in to 2.5 hours! Even though we several times tried to end it.
We talk about Gods name and he fetches a Bible, he tries to find excuses to why it’s only in the footnote, but he seems to agree that the name should be there. We show him the appendix in the yellow book.
He has just been assigned to Namibia and has already been through some rough times here. He lost much of his luggage on his way here and has been robbed and almost killed, he wonders what God wants to teach him and we show him James 1:13 and discuss it.
When we’re leaving he tells us that catholic priests are not really allowed to talk to ministers, priests or preachers from other religious organizations without special permission from the bishop, but that he sees nothing wrong in our discussion. “he has an open mind and it is about the Bible”. I give him the bible teach book, “but only if he wants to read it”. He will. He will leave for Keetmanshop for a few days, but we hope to hear from him when he returns.

Trine and the others have worked through 3/5 of the territory! They have met very many, it’s productive time to reach people! People have been very nice and friendly, but most of them rejects. They have their own church or beliefs. At least they got a reminder that there is still the ones following Jesus example bearing witness of Jehovah and his great name!
